On The Duty to Counter Recruitment

Members of Veterans For Peace Long Island, being former military themselves, are NOT anti military. However, when our misguided and incompetent leaders use lies and deception to commit our nation to an illegal and immoral war and occupation and use our military as cannon fodder to forward their agenda for power, empire, oil, whatever, we who swore to uphold the Constitution, must step forward and raise our voices in outrage. As long as our brave men and women in the military are being required to fight such wars, VFPLI feels it our moral and legal duty, our duty as patriots, to educate potential recruits about
  • the alternatives to military service,
  • unscrupulous recruitment practices,
  • the realities of military service,
  • the illegality and immorality of the war they are going to be required to fight,
  • the realities of war and
  • how their lives will be adversely effected.
